Sewage petition

The current local sewage system can’t cope.

The water companies are owned by private equity organisations that syphon off their profits (to the point that the water companies are almost bankrupt).

Southern Water doesn’t want (and claims it can’t afford) to make the necessary huge investments in expanding the sewage infrastructure, so they abuse “emergency” measures to discharge raw sewage when the system can’t cope.

The Tory Government and Tory-led District Council refuse to robustly challenge the water companies to clean-up their act and constantly vote down or dilute proposed Bills from the Lib Dems to hold the water companies to account and to make them take action (not just require them to agree to the bland and unenforceable never-never “intentions” that the Tories request of them). Is it a coincidence that the water companies are donors to the Tory party?

What are you telling the Liberal Democrats

  • It’s disgusting!
  • Our drains can’t cope
  • Our wildlife is being poisoned
  • Our beautiful Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty is being destroyed
  • Water companies are irresponsible
  • Why isn’t our Tory MP and Tory-led District Council using their influence and “insider status” to sort this out properly?

Let Gillian Keegan (Conservative MP: Chichester) and the Tories on Chichester District Council know that you want them to urgently address sewage pollution in OUR area – and demand that they get tough on Southern Water to build the sewage infrastructure needed and that they halt the building of any more houses in the area until treatment works have sufficient and MORE sewage capacity than they have now

SIGN our petition to MP:Gillian Keegan and Chichester District Council to demand urgent, tangible action to STOP sewage pollution of our local environment, rivers and coast.
